Description

Zaber’s MVR microscopes are motorized, inverted microscopes designed to lower the barriers to automated microscopy. Combining Zaber precision motion control and world class optics, MVR microscopes deliver unparalleled performance and value.

The modular design allows easy swapping of key modules such as the episcopic and transmitted illuminators, camera and even the tube lens, should you need to switch optical systems.
While most microscope companies charge you thousands for software, we provide a system that is fully compatible with µManager open source microscopy software. For applications requiring extended capabilities, we give you full access to all software controlled microscope functions through the Zaber Motion Library API to allow easy custom scripting.

Multi-channel Fluorescence Sample Image

Multi-channel fluorescence sample image taken with Zaber inverted microscope. The sample is taken from bovine pulmonary artery endothelial cells (BPAEC) stained with MitoTracker® Red CMXRos (mitochondria), Alexa Fluor® 488 phalloidin (F-actin) and DAPI (nuclei). A Photometrics Iris 9 camera (CC02) was used.

MLR – 3-channel LED Epi-Illuminator

Epi-Illumination is provided via Zaber's MLR, a 3-channel LED illuminator. This illuminator combines 3 different LEDs to provide a broad spectrum source suitable for fluorophores from DAPI to Cy5 (390 nm to 650 nm). LED channels can be software triggered and can be swapped for different wavelengths to suit your application.

Objective Changes in Seconds

Zaber's quick-change objective system reduces moving mass for optimal focus step response and allows manual objective changes in seconds. Additional objectives require only a small quick-change adapter (5 included) and can be stored outside the microscope, eliminating the risk of crashing unused objectives in a turret. Quick-change adapters can be purchased for any objective thread, allowing the use of RMS, M25, M27 or any other objective that is compatible with the optical system.

Biological Imaging Application

The image is of mouse cells showing cell nuclei (purple), telomeres (red puncti in nuclei), and a cytoplasmic stain (green).

Custom Inverted Microscope with BF/PC Transmitted Illumination
This custom inverted microscope uses the Nikon CFI60 optical system and features transmitted brightfield and phase contrast illumination in addition to epi-fluorescence.

Manufacturer Informations

Zaber Technologies

Zaber was founded in 1997, when precision linear actuators all used DC motors with gearboxes and encoders requiring bulky controllers.
Zaber resolved this by integrating the motor, controller, driver, and mechanics into a single device with a small form factor.
